A Qantas flight bound for Australia had to return to Auckland International Airport shortly after takeoff yesterday because the cabin was losing air pressure, the airline said.
The Boeing 737 with 91 passengers and crew aboard was flying from Auckland to the Australian east coast city of Brisbane.
“At about 25,000 feet (7,600 metres), while it was climbing out of Auckland, it experienced a subtle pressurisation problem” Aston said.
“The cabin was depressurising at a controlled rate, but not rapidly, and not noticeably to passengers and it certainly never was depressurized to an unacceptable level,” he added.
Air safety authorities will likely investigate.
The Australian carrier underwent a safety review last year after a series of problems, including an oxygen tank explosion on a Boeing 747-400 that ripped a hole in the jet’s fuselage last July, forcing it to make an emergency landing in the Philippines. No one was injured.
Io non ho veramente più parole per l’interminabile serie di disagi, problematiche ed emergenze che vedono protagonista Qantas. I casi sono due: o imparano a fare la manutenzione meglio, oppure devono aprire un collegamento diretto per Lourdes!!!
